i'm sorry poem
I'm sorry
I left your crayons
on the deck
It was your bucket
of 200 crayons
all different colors
We colored with them
at noon in July

But I forgot
to pick them up
wasn't thinking
and
They melted
into a
black
wax
pool

and when we came out after lunch
your grandma yelled at us
and you cried
at noon in July

but that started
our fascination
with sidewalk chalk
don't you think
that's a good thing?

all because of
your melted crayons
(I'm really sorry)
left out at noon
In July.
