How fast life seems to be going!
Mornings shifting into blurs
A milky murkiness I despise
With my eyes

Months seem like flutters of a butterfly
Specks of dust floating by
Pages of books flapped over in a windy sigh

I can never remember myself
What I thought and why I was that way
Swallowed by the present day

I hoped and longed for the future
Praying it would be so immaculate
But it’s the same as yesterday and the day before that

I loose myself in daydreams of the ahead
Laid through those blurry mornings on my bed
Never remembering what I said

I’m what I always wanted to see
What I want one day the next I’ll be
So fast its ancient history

I ponder too long – out the window
The world is staring back and laying out
The one way track

I let myself fall backwards off the cliff of memory
Off recollection’s shelf
And plunge into myself

I wake up and it’s another morning – cold
I look in the mirror
I am old.
