A poem about the fear of giving in to desire
Waiting for you,
I hold my breath
without knowing it.
As though the muscles inside
my chest gather in anticipation
and hold my life inside,
clutching it jealously.

Can I trust you
enough to exhale, love?
The tension is almost
too much, and yet my breath,
my life I cling to jealously.
As though when the breath
leaves you will forbid me another.
