Christmas at my home. Christmas Eve, Day, and day after
Lights and ornaments on the tree,

Presents crowding the piano,

Stockings hung where there is no fire,

The house preparing for Christmas.

Wrapping paper scattered on the floor,

half empty coffee cups settle here and there,

Cinnamon rolls set on the countertop,

Christmas morning gone all too soon.

Opened presents crowd the shelves,

waiting to work their way in,

We admire the tree,

dreading the day we must take it down,

but that is how it works.

Christmas only comes once a year.
