An English Sonnet
What simple beauty melts this icy heart.
Warmth more tender than any lover’s kiss.
So many seasons have we been apart.
A blooming love that I have dearly missed.

Songbirds sing love songs of your sweet return.
Sun shines around me, so filled with your life.
Luscious scents take me, the wood and the fern.
I know it was worth it: the wintry strife.

The days grow longer, my worries seem small.
I cling to this feeling, it won’t last long.
The sun will grow hotter, the leaves will fall,
The north wind will blow, so cold and so strong.

Your fallen leaves piled with plastic attack.
I sometimes fear she will never come back.
