The breakdown of a relationship in its harsh reality
Depression is never an excuse,
For emotional or physical abuse.
So what happened to this once kind man?
A caring man, with a family plan,
To make him break his promise to her,
And change their future, lose who they were.

He thought she was moody every night,
His head was lying, she was his light.
Without clear thought he ran away,
Thought he’d find a brighter way.
All the while she maintained her support,
Carrying his child, for his return she fought.

Their love was strong and he came back,
They birthed their child, he saw no black.
With family strong they headed north,
A life in the sun with two angels they sort.
Though life was great he started to fade,
He drank too much, he gambled and he played.

Once more then the horror she faced,
Of a thoughtless husband, loyalties misplaced.
He ran once more, he sought to hide,
He couldn’t be reached, how hard she tried.
Over many months she tried to make him see,
The righteous path, with his family he should be.

He saw no love, he thought her mean,
If only he’d allowed the truth to be seen.
She fought for honour, for her girls and her life,
She fought so hard she could no longer be his wife.
Now she goes forward, searching for love and hope.
In his dark world, with his guilt he must cope.
