written while incarcerated
When your world comes crashing down,
And everything starts falling apart,
And you're searching for a new beginning,
Tell me, where do you start?

When your eyes are swollen with tears,
That continuously trickle down your face,
For what do you find a reason,
To wipe those tears away?

When you're tip-toeing on the edge,
And just barely an inch from falling in,
Where do you find the strength,
To get up and rise again?

When you're lost, lonely and need to talk,
But no one has an ear to lend,
And you're searching for someone who understands,
Tell me, where do you find that friend?

When you feel like you're suffocating,
And you're the closest you've ever been to death,
Where do you find the oxygen,
To inhale and catch your breath?

When control is slipping away from you,
And you are slowly losing grip,
How do you gain composure,
Instead of just choosing to quit?

When your body is weak and fragile,
And you feel like giving in,
Tell me, where do you find the courage,
To fight the battle and win?
