Written for a friend, or at least the memory of one....
Don't you know I'm waiting?
Let your brown eyes come to life!
Take a moment to listen,
And you might stay for a time.

I've been bad to you, don't we all know,
But I've changed,
And while I wish to believe you haven't
There is still a future for us…..
friend.

I've learned to not miss you,
so dearly
so dearly
But all my work falls apart when I look myself in the eye.

Did you ever ask for a smile?
I'll manage one for you,
I promise, cross my black, arrhythmic heart.

Call me when I'm willing, able, to let you in.
That leaves a few weakened moments,
But don't we ever wish, or dream?
For anything else given to us,
As I'm pushed further into madness.

I fear nothing more than your voice--
But, alas, you're the only thing that keeps me living.
