Something I wrote for my Mother.
I can't seem to listen
To what anyone says.
I just can't do
What I think is best.
All I can hear are whipsers
Issuing from your lips.
Tempt me with a cup of poison
Tempt me just one sip.
Offering me all you can
On a silver dish.
Saying you can grant
Everything I wish.
Yet still all I hear
Are your whispers lingering.
They start out so soft
Then drown out everything.
With all of those whispers
Ringing in my ear.
How can you expect
Me to even hear?
You flood my mind with your thoughts
Things you wish to be.
How can I even begin
To truly become me?
I cast my fear and doubt aside
And cease to hear you through.
And I start to become
Someone completly new.
