A Shakespearean Sonnet - written for The SteamPunk Salon.
Tin-Woman Lover

Could I deny the Fates this one desire
Convince the ebb of Time to turn blind eye
Mold the tongue of Death into a liar
Stare my God in the face and question why?

Why? Oh why harsh God do you take her now?
The bud of life has yet to blossom full
Your greedy fingers I will not allow
Over your hungry eyes I’ll pull the wool

The sparks arise in a two-tone fountain
My hand does shake as I solder and melt
Fingers of steel and a face full of tin
We will deny the hand that Fate has dealt

This you must know, you will never take her
She will be now – my tin-woman lover.
