A single mothers struggle with her children.
This sanctuary has become our home
Not a day goes by when we do not feel alone
My friends they say I have been too bold
Not a fear, not a tear, not ever has been shown

This bread has been our only food
Not mine, not yours but it sure looks good
A mirror and an image
My reflection shining in it
Your empty eyes glowing in the night
The only reason I have ever had to fight

My young child we may have little left
My young girls have you grown up yet
Not a day goes by, I hesitate and wish you the best
Little girl please get some rest

This sanctuary has grown cold
My feet are tired, my heart has grown old
My loneliness has brought me companionship
Whatever this life may hold
I grow up and I grow up bold
