Lady luck, she loves me
And I'm married to the road
But the girl beneath the palm tree
She knew that I must go

My heart once loved the music
It made my dreams come true
But now my heart is muse sick
And all I do is dream of you

We met beneath the palm tree
You lead me to your van
The year was 1970
And I wasn't your first band

It wasn't about the ocean breeze
Or the waves that it saw stirred
I fell in love beneath those trees
And this is all I heard

'You'll never be the man I love
Because never could you stay
And what wretch I'd be, thereof
To halt that which you play

You must go and share your gift
You'll be a star one day
And I'm just a girl, who gave you a lift
Before you were well on your way'

So if you must know, where my mind goes,
When I'm singing up on the stage,
A palm tree, a girl, the beach in San Diego
I never really turned the page
