About a man who didn't buy me flowers or read me poetry but made me love him completely
~What Real Love Feels Like~
        by ~Minja~

I knew I loved him
when I started making excuses
for the way he hurt me.

He didn't buy me flowers
but one day he came and watered me
by attention as if I was a flower,
carefully touching its petals
afraid they will fall of if he make
one wrong move with his deft fingers.
When I got my new seasonal gown
he wasn't impressed by my new dress
nor he said that I look beautiful in it-
he held my head high to the sky,
filling my mind with thoughts instead.
He pulled my hands from my ears
so I could hear him talking about myself-
things that I didn't know,
or didn't want to know perhaps.
He made me look in the mirror of his eyes
to find my reflection in it-
there was a different me in every line of retina
like cracked mirror with the blood from the hand that broke it.
He didn't complete me,
he left the last piece of the puzzle lost in him
safe in knowledge I will search for it forever.
He knew that before I met him
I had words instead of feelings in myself
and he turned me quite opposite-
his last touch, a curse for his flower,
was to fill me up with feelings for him
without possibility to frame them into words.
