Golden leaves

When the leaves turn golden
I think that means the seasons change.
In California,
we really only get two seasons-
summer and winter.

It probably means it's autumn,
and school is starting again.
Stores giving back to school specials,
kids going back to school,
and Halloween specials begin, too.

When the leaves turn yellow,
it's supposed to be pretty,
and the weather
should be coolish but warm.
And other leaves will turn
red or orange,
and families rake them up,
just to let the kids jump in
and mess it up again.

But this is all conjecture-
I've never seen yellow leaves
unless they were from sick plants!
