Hide the Hurt

I can no longer smile,
too much pain has taken hold.
Tears now abound where
love once held my heart.

I can’t laugh anymore,
for I have lost too much.
Misery is a new friend where
hope used to hold firm.

Trust is no longer an issue,
for I trust no one anymore.
Lies have become truth where
the facts once lived.

I can no longer smile;

but now I have to hide the hurt.
