Where do you want to be and why?

Do you know where you get
By train or ship, by car or jet?

You get Miles From Home
Miles From Home

Do you know how far you travel
When you walk or pedal a cycle?

You stay Closer Home
Closer Home.

So you decide -
machine, or exercise?

Engine, or sweat?
How far do you want to get?

Buy a ticket, take a ride
Zoom past the countryside

Or use your own feet and enjoy
The sights, sounds, smells as you pass by.

What's important? Being somewhere
Or the fun of getting there?

What do you find, Miles From Home
The inspiration to write a poem?

Do you have time to write it down
Or are you busy zooming through the town?

What's important - getting ahead
Or staying put instead

Is it about what you find
In your heart, soul and mind?

Meander, stroll, maybe be lost
Seek yourself and pay the cost

It doesn't matter where you go
If all you have to show

Is visa stamp and luggage tag
And half-a-week of jet lag

But if you've made a friend or two
If your mind has ideas new

If your heart and soul are nourished
Then your travel is to be cherished

Stay Close or go Miles from Home
But don't forget the painting or poem.
