Flying Spaghetti Monster

Flying Spaghetti Monster

29 lines
Joe Lewis was having a spaghetti dinner
With friends in Berkeley, California

As they ate their spaghetti
Tomato sauce
meatballs
garlic
grated cheese

They talked about
The state of the world.

Joe, a militant atheist
Began arguing with Roberto
A Christian fundamentalist.

Joe said,
“I can’t believe in imaginary sky friends
It would make as much sense
As worshipping
A flying spaghetti monster.”

That night was the first spaghetti feast
For the cult of the flying spaghetti monster
Which spread across the world.

From its humble origins
In a kitchen in Berkeley, California.

CO PIlot provides background on this cult

The Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is the deity of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, also known as Pastafarianism. This parodic new religious movement promoted a light-hearted view of religion and originated in opposition to the teaching of intelligent design in public schools in the United States1. According to adherents, Pastafarianism is a “real, legitimate religion, as much as any other.” The central creation myth humorously asserts that an invisible and undetectable Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe after drinking heavily. Pirates are revered as the original Pastafarians1. 🍝
