Created for The Writer's Cramp contest. Prompt: What signals end-of-summer.
Fall Is Here

Summer’s as hot as a boiling pot
with steam messing up my hair.
But fall is better by quite a lot,
cause the weather is cool and fair.

No hot dry winds, no beating sun.
Come fall, there’s a friendly breeze.
I can’t sunbathe and that’s no fun,
but my shopping is done with ease.

The Maple leaves are beautiful,
I love how they look on the ground.
They all float down so dutiful,
without making the slightest sound.

The pumpkins are so filling,
and apples and cinnamon taste nice.
I love when the weather starts chilling
and the flavors of sugar and spice.

We celebrate and trick-or- treat
with friends on Halloween,
and sometimes go on hayrides
with those we’ve never seen.

When I look back upon the past,
Fall seems to be the best.
I know the season doesn’t last,
but you can have the rest.

No matter what you think of Fall
I’ll hold-on to my vision.
So now I guess I’ve said it all.
Please make your own decision.
