about a relationship
Jack Daniels lassoed the fine filly with a silver tongue
And reeled her into his outstretched arms.
They floated on green blades in black silk winds.

She hovered over him, asleep in bed,
Dreaming of killer clowns juggling flaming knives
In a storm of red rose petals on a white satin night.

She poured honey over his half naked body,
The clowns hurled their knives through cranial crevices,
She sucked off the honey with her dripping tongue.

He woke to the seething sun beating his face on a deserted island.
He rearranged puzzle pieces, molding idols and effigies.
Obsessively constructing revisions of shrinking memories.

He looked out across the vast lake surrounding him,
Saw her naked form sprawled out waving from a distant shore,
Then turned his attention to the algae green image staring back at him.

The reflection burst into ripples as he dove in.
Weeds, like green tentacles, wrap around his legs
Dragging him to the murky depths of the water.

She watched, waited, wondered why he faced such a struggle,
For she had spread herself open while he remained shut,
He fought the weeds, pulling himself up to break the surface.

As his lonely isle grew smaller, the water grew deeper, darker
Wound around in the wake of several motorboats circling his head
The water whirled and drew him back down to drown.

Tears blurred the image of the drowning figure
She reached out to him, tried to fish him out of the abyss
But her line fell short of her target or he just didn't bite.

Heartbroken, she moved inland away from shore
While his head underwater, full of dancing in fields
Under moonlit skies, hand in hand, locked gaze in eyes.

Reaching the shore he found himself again
Alone on an island, body rubbed course with sand.
And the sun suggested time for another swim.
