Whispers of a life unlived ...
Memories of this Life

Looking from the other side
To which I have crossed,
I can only lament
On opportunities lost …

I think of things
I should have done,
Battles I haven’t fought
Let alone have won.

So many things
I haven’t taken,
Chances that have left,
And I let them.

Chances I could
Have come in for the night,
And had mutual enjoyment
That would have been right.

Chances to grab
The educational apple,
That by my delay
I simply let fall.

I can’t help but think
“Wouldn’t it be great
If in all actuality
It wasn’t too late?”

But it is not too late,
I realize with a surprise
Feeling played by Fate
As I open my eyes.

Things so far dreamed
Can still be done,
For my body
Has yet to be overcome.

It’s time for me
To give new breath
And to enjoy
The time I have left.
