its more than a ride, its an escape from life
I remember riding down the block
houses blurring, feelings stirring
My hair whipping, twirling all around
I remember my shiny, new bike
growing rainbows as the day glows
it was easy to forget
lest we try again
Just ride away your sinned
and leave your tears dried in the wind
I can recall on those waterfalls
raining on my bed, blurring visions in my head
It was wonderful to escape...
Today I drove my car
shiny and new
and I remember, thinking of a time...
my mother tucked me in
tight and cold
she spoke of places I would go
driving myself far away, like she had tried
but why drive, I thought, when you could ride...
Passing by a home
I passed through time
and saw a young me, riding free
riding for her life, running from the strife
"drive, little girl"
riding may not take you to the edge of the world
because sooner or later
you'll tire of pedaling
of the smell of the wind
and turn to the glow of a drive
reflecting faces taken places
I'm ashamed to say I've been
but it will get you going and hold you tight
so let your ribbens loose
and ignore your mother's pleas
Ride free
while you can breathe
Ride free
while you can last
