Poem about scene witnessed one evening that stuck with me.
Cat and Mouse

A cat close in the night
*Close mouth stood,
And in its mouth by way of food
Hung limply visible
Hind and tail,
A mouse stilled by fright.

Yet something strange remains
In two such vertebrates,
Two unequal inveterate separates:
Two specialists in a common field,
One to prey and pounce
The other to elude and yield.

*Close: entrance to a Glasgow tenement building.
