past Palmer, past Gakona, past Tok / crossing Beaver Creek and the Yukon brooks
Tish

for Trevor Ish of Alaska and Montana

A boy named Tish,
scamps off with an Alaskan wish:
the water, the mountains, the snow, the fish
are what he knows.

Yet,

he remembers Montana and grows
broad-shouldered, brown-eyed, brown hair, slim hipped.
He dreams of studying computer tech
on a Grizzly football scholarship.

... or perhaps,

driving the Al-Can highway in a long distance rig,
putting on a quarter million miles a year,
like his grandfather did,
past Palmer, past Gakona, past Tok
crossing Beaver Creek and the Yukon brooks
where the water, the mountains, the snow and the fish
will be greeted by a man named Tish.

Tish

for Trevor Ish of Alaska and Montana

A boy named Tish,
scamps off with an Alaskan wish:
the water, the mountains, the snow, the fish
are what he knows.

Yet,

he remembers Montana and grows
broad-shouldered, brown-eyed, brown hair, narrow hipped.
He dreams of studying computer tech
on a Grizzly football scholarship.

... or perhaps,

driving the Al-Can highway in a long distance rig,
like his grandfather did,
putting on a quarter million miles a year,
past Palmer, past Gakona, past Tok
crossing Beaver Creek and the Yukon brooks
where the water, the mountains, the snow and the fish
will be loved by a man named Tish.
