The title was used from a prompt that I was going to enter for a contest; a 40 line poem.

My eyes were gazing at the gift
I bought. It would have been
Perfect, I thought; It should have
Been no surprise. What I sought
Out to do, each time I thought of
You, was surprise you with
Something special.

Dazzled by your presence, I felt
the essence of your cologne. I
Should have knelt each time I
Prayed. The light shone bright,
Looking up at the stars. It was
A delightful night.

Things were moving in
The night. It was a
Bumpy ride. I just wanted to
Hide. I was frightened, but I
Ended up very enlightened.
With your hand in mine, I
Knew I'd be fine. Your hugs
And kisses drove me wild,
But I just stood there meek
And mild. It took a lot of
Learning; the memories
Were filed away in the back
Of my brain. When I looked
Up at the moon, I knew that I
Would see you soon.

It would have been
Perfect, but people
Have let us down.
It's so sad: I want
To frown. You made
Me smile; They made
Me cry. Why do they
Do this, I do not know.
I guess they don't
Believe In us. Get
Over it, and don't put
Up a fuss.
