Flash Fiction - "We don't have time for this"
Rebecca ran out of the bathroom and across the landing to her bedroom still in her pyjamas. "I don't want to go the school!" She yelled.

Her mum rushed to the bottom of the stairs. "Come on Becca, we don’t have time for this." It was true they did not. Rebecca's mum's alarm did not go off this morning due to a power outage which reset her clock. "Both your brothers are already full dressed and ready to go."

"I don't care, I hate school!" Rebecca throw herself under her duvet. The stairs creaked, her mum was coming up them. Rebecca peaked out from under her duvet, watching the door. Her mum entered, she was expecting her to have a stern look but it wasn't that at all. Rebecca pulled her duvet down so she couldn't be seen.

She felt the weight of her mum sitting on the end of the bed. "Why would you say you hate school? I thought you liked Mrs Thompson?"

"I do like Mrs Thompson." Rebecca grumbled.

"So if it's not Mrs Thompson, what is it?"

Rebecca thought for moment on how best to answer the question because she felt silly that once again she didn't fit in. She decided it would best to stay silent instead. Her mum placed her hand on her, gently squeezing her. "You're struggling to fit in again aren't you?" she said. "How about I have a word with Mrs Thompson, I think she will be able help. Unlike those other wretched teachers."

Rebecca giggled and poked her head out from under the duvet. "Are you sure it will be OK?"

Her mum kissed her on the forehead. "I promise it will this time."
