The sad part of a person’s military service - their PTSD struggles - a Memorial Day poem
God bless the solace and energy of home;
May citizens affirm those legacies we comb.
In every city and community we roam,
The souls who sacrificed see waves white with foam.

In the blink of an eye, a sudden flash -
Both sides battling, a ferocious clash -
An unfortunate outcome, or victory dash;
A major wound or horrific slash.

They stick their necks out, for liberty persists;
Some sacrifice it all, their mind or soul desists -
The courage in fulfilling the honor consists
Of tragic humility, but their drive resists.

Doctors assist those troops in a hospital -
The test of a fighter’s superior wherewithal.
For when the bravest members answer the call,
There’s a momentary shakeup, or chilly stall…

The freedom of billions continues to fly -
The watery depths conceal sailing nearby;
The armed forces’s truth is a flag waving high -
A leadership, tenacity, standing guard nearby…
