about disappointment
Everything is closed
The once seemingly dependable
Have flipped their signs
And retired for the evening,
Shutting off the lights as they leave.
It was quite a trip and
You were hoping to sneak in
Before they had a chance
To look at the clock
And lock the doors
You make your way home
And realize that you’ll have
To make do
With what you have
And there’s nothing here
That you needed anyway
