every ending creates a beginning
With a sure and steady hand
He places my roots in gritty sand
The tide has yet to come in
But I am too close to stand
The power of the waves fresh
From the bottom of an ocean
Hiding its beautiful deception

I am no longer one of his favorites
I have abandoned any hope
Of being saved because
Bad karma has arrived
And he is a heartbreaker

My petals once red and soft
Now sport tears and
Have started to fade
Another sign of the change
In status:
I am now yesterday's trash

My fragrant memory drifts
On a hurricane's winds,
Wafting for no one to smell
Even the pollen I once held
Has been washed away

I am dying,
Shedding my skin
So that I can rise again
As a Phoenix ascends from
The ashes,
Better, stronger, wiser

So leave me here trapped in
The sand, without a way
To breathe
Resilience is what
I am courting
