The Third Klamik War was supposed to be the last war. Now it's the fourth one, or is It?

The Fourth Klamik War: After the War

“Both sides have agreed to end this war.” Chattina glanced down at her Palm Monitor, at the image of the devastation around her. “This war is finally over. Now all we need to do is continue to live after it. That won’t be easy for most of us.”

“The Third Klamik War took us about twenty years to rebuild after that war, and this one is a lot worse than that one. I wonder how long our world will take to rebuild this time if we can rebuild it this time.”

Chattina stood atop what was left on the corner of a mostly fallen building. She was now looking at that Region of Klamik. A small black solid square hovered next to her head. No extension showed that it was looking at that Region too. The same images that were on Chattina’s Palm Monitor.

“Personally, I don’t think we can rebuild Klamik after this war.” Slowly, Chattina started to look at the disaster below them. Every so often, she glanced at her Palm Monitor for a closer look at the mostly or completely fallen buildings, the pieces of those buildings everywhere. What she didn’t see were other Klamiks.

##

Stepping over pieces of buildings, Chattina walked among what was left of that Region of Klamik. That wasn’t too easy to do, pieces were everywhere. Every step she took was over or around a piece. She couldn’t take a step without stepping around or over a piece.

While trying to step over a large piece, Chattina was too short to step over it clearly, she stumbled as she went over it. Not enough for her to fall, but she came close to doing it. As she got up, she noticed some other Klamiks among these pieces and partial buildings.

Those Klamiks weren’t only coming out of one building. They were coming out of multiple buildings, at least the ones Chattina could see. Chattina looked down at her Palm Monitor. Now she could see more of that Region. “It looks like I’m not the only one still alive after all.”

“I wonder how many of us are still alive in this Region and the other Regions of Klamik.” Chattina kept her eyes on her Palm Monitor while she looked around her Region. The shocked look on her face said she didn’t like what she saw right now.”

##

The only building still there in that Region Chattina could see was a medical facility. Chattina wasn’t surprised about that. After all, medical facilities weren’t involved in that war, except for when they were needed. While walking toward that building Chattina saw Medical Assistants and individuals Klamiks taking other Klamiks in there.

After entering that facility, Chattina suddenly stopped. Before entering any rooms with Sleepers, etc. Chattina saw halls full of Klamik needing help and the Medical Professionals trying to help them. While walking down those halls, Chattina notices some of the other Klamiks staring at her.

Most Klamik didn’t want to or couldn’t stare at Chattina, but the ones who could look at her had hatred and anger on their faces like she was responsible for them being there. Chattina looked away from them as quickly as she could. “I’m not to blame for the last five years.”

“Look at me, I have been a part of this war too. I may have lived through it somewhat better than you, but I’m still one of the unlucky Klamiks. The lucky ones are the ones who have already died. They don’t have to live with what is about to happen.”

##

Chattina used a large tree to see what was happening near her. She peeked around one side of that tree. Her black square peeked around the other side if it had a visible eye to peek with. They were looking at the beginning of a huge Residence being built.

“So, Klamik decided to rebuild our world again. I’m not surprised they are starting with the wealth Residences first,” said Chattina with her Palm Monitor within an inch of her face. “After all, this war started because they wanted to stay wealthy while the rest of Klamik suffered.”

Suddenly, Chattina smiled after removing the Palm Monitor away from her face. Chattina motioned her black square with flicks of her palm flat and fingers facing her. Her black square got closer to her. Now well hidden behind that tree. Chattina placed her Palm Monitor on top of her black square.

“Stay here and monitor me through this tree. If anyone comes near you become unseeable. I think I can use this Wealthy Residence to my advantage.” Chattina stepped out from behind that tree and walked up to some Klamiks working on that Residence. “It looks like you need some help.”

##

A red pulsating ball came out of a weapon being held by a Klamik partially hidden behind what little remained of a building. That fist-sized ball got bitter to the size of an adult male chest when it hit another Klamik in his shoulder and upper arm.

That Klamik dropped his weapon and grabbed his arm where the red pulsating ball hit him in pain. His legs started twitching and he fell back to land on his back hard. So, hard he bounced twice. Four other Klamiks with weapons dropped their weapons to drag him out of the way as more red pulsating balls headed their way.

Chattina watched it happen on her Palm Monitor from the other side of that attack. “Another fighter who doesn’t know the war is over thinks the war is still happening or doesn’t care. He wants the war to continue. This is the fourteen Klamik we have encountered in the last few weeks.”

“This Klamik appears to be one of them who doesn’t care. He wants to kill anyone near him. So far, he has hurt about twenty-seven other Klamiks. But he hasn’t killed any of them yet.”

####

Seven Klamiks from eight to sixteen ran to hug Chattina after she entered that large living area. Two of the younger ones kept clinging to her while the other five let go to let other Younger-Than-Twenty Klamiks do it. Chattina tried to walk into that living area. But that was hard to do with all the embracing happening.

Almost everyone there stopped what they were doing to greet Chattina. They weren’t dirty, smelly, barely clothed Klamiks anymore, including Chattina. After Chattina struggled to get to the middle of that living area she stopped. The Klamiks still attached to her finally let go, including the two original Klamiks.

“You are the one who has helped us, aren’t you?” the last one who wouldn’t let go of Chattina asked, a female around nine.

“What makes you think that?” Chattina asked.

“Because of the devices you have,” answered a male about twelve. “Only the wealthy have devices like that now.”

Chattina smiled while thinking. So, that’s why the Klamiks at the Medical Facility stared at me, why they were blaming me for this war.

“I am the reason why you are here. But it’s not the reason you are thinking about.”

##

Dirty, smelly, with barely anything on, Chattina walked among that Region looking for more Younger-Than-Twenties to help. While she did that, she noticed several more large Residences were being created. “Maybe I will claim them too. After all, I’m probably the only wealthy Klamik in this Region now.”

“I haven’t seen or heard of another wealthy Klamik still alive. It has been almost four months since this war ended, I think I would have known by now if there were any. Especially, after helping the other Younger-Than-Twenties like me.”

Chattina started walking toward the nearest Residence being built to see if she could help them rebuild their Region when she saw ten Younger-Than-Twenty Klamiks from six to twelve watching the rebuilding from what remained of a nearby Wooded Area. She went the long way around to go to them so she wouldn’t scare them.

After getting behind them, Chattina crouched like them. “Don’t be afraid. My name is Chattina. What’s your name? I know I don’t look it, but I’m here to help you.”

“We know who you are. We’ve been watching you too,” said one of the other Younger-Than-Twenties after they turned toward Chattina.

##

Chattina sat on the floor in the middle of the living area with about two hundred other Younger-Than-Twenties surrounding her. Some were sitting on the floor with her, some were standing, and some were sitting on Seats. She was talking to them about herself and why she was doing that.

“I know it’s tight right now. But as soon as the other large Residences are done, it won’t be anymore.”

“You are wealthy. Why are you doing this for us?” asked a male who is also about fifteen.

The other Younger-Than-twenties started asking similar questions. “Calm down, I will answer all of your questions and concerns. Just give me a chance to do it.”

“At first, I was like the other wealthy Klamiks. Then I heard the war started because of them and why it started. I also heard it didn’t matter who got hurt or worse as long as they didn’t. That’s when I joined the war against them.”

“As for why I’m doing this for you, it’s because I am just like you and you are just like me. I’m all alone too. I don’t have any adults in my life anymore. My two males and a female are no longer here either.”

##

Another female around thirteen pointed at the Palm Monitor Chattina had been using with one finger and the black square with her other hand finger. “Why are you doing this? Don’t you know that everyone who sees you knows who you are?”

“I know, but I want them to see what I’m doing. They see I’m one of them now. I’m not trying to hide that I was wealthy. I want them to know I will do whatever it takes so another war like this one will never happen again.”

“That’s why I have helping to rebuild this Region of Klamik. But I haven’t just been helping them. I have also been making these places better. Not because they are wealthy Residences, but for all places.”

Chattina got up and started walking among the other Younger-Than-Twenties. They all kept their eyes on her everywhere she went. “I want everyone on Klamik to know what we have been through because of this war and what it took to rebuild our world again. I’m hoping seeing this will stop it from ever happening again.”

##

An explosion sent Chattina and Younger-Than-Twenties with her running toward the outside of their Residence in the direction of that explosion. They barely got outside when three more explosions happened in three different directions. “Is this war starting over again or is this the fifth Klamik war already?” asked a male about fourteen.

They could hear the screaming and dying Klamik as those explosions continued to happen. Some screams or dying came from far away. But they were getting closer. So close, Chattina and the other Younger-Than-Twenties saw some of them screaming and dying.

“I don’t think it’s either,” answered Chattina. Every time an explosion happened, Chattina and the others with her looked in that direction. Those explosions were getting closer. “I think they were placed before the war ended. Why they are exploding now, I don’t know.”

Chattina started walking toward the nearby trees. “I’m going to go help the dead and dying. But I want all of you to go to the underground room inside this Residence. You will be safe there until these explosions are over, and I don’t think these explosions will last too much longer.”

Another female about twelve started walking too. “I don’t know about the others, but I want to help the dead and dying too.”
