From future self to past self
Excuse me, I think I might know you
I believe I was once you
A long, long time ago
And let me tell you I know it feels
As if everything is a bit unreal
When he walked out the door
Didn't want to call this home no more

But it gets better, easier to breathe
As time gallops on bringing an inner peace
A sense of direction, purpose, and resolve
To build something better, on solid ground
With another who will stick around
For both the good times and the bad
A better lover you'll never have

Just give time a chance to heal
As the parts that hurt inside change
To welcome emotions you once thought
You couldn't have, then you too will know
The joy of a relationship built on trust
And honesty, traits that will surely be
Found with your happily ever after
