The best parts of hosting a contest

Often when I write about hosting a contest or activity, I give advice on dealing with the stresses and pressures of it. Meeting deadlines, making sure everyone follows the rules, making a schedule and sticking to it, etc. I feel I sometimes overlook the best parts of hosting!

*Star* You get to explore others' writing! You often get to read some really great material and learn new genres and styles! It can be a great way to just get in some good reading!

*Star* Meeting other members! Hosting a contest or activity can be a great way to meet new members, particularly if you interact with them by reviewing their entry! It can often be the start of a great friendship!

*Star* Interacting with the community! It can be an awesome feeling to contribute to the success of WDC by hosting an interactive contest or activity. That's what this site is all about, bringing writers together and sharing that spark of inspiration! It's a really rewarding feeling to be part of that process!

*Star* Inspiring others! I know for myself, I wanted to host a contest because I saw other doing it so well! I wanted to be a part of that experience on WDC. You should give it a try, too!

As always, keep on writing! *Quill*

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (May 6, 2020)Open in new Window.), and it discussed our "Breaking a Tie" lives. Here is some feedback from last week's Newsletter readers:

Would it be possible to put this in your next contest & activity's newsletter? Have a nice day *Smile*

I was impressed by this newsletter; it was very informative.

Thank you! I'm glad you found it informative! *Smile*

I judge for the Writer's Cramp on Mondays at the moment. I always try to pick one winner, but sometimes it can be impossible for me to decide between two. When that happens I split the 10000 points between two members, giving them each a handy 5000 GPs still.

Sounds like a fair judgment for a true tie! *Smile*
