Hiya readers, especially new members! I am happy to be the editor for this edition as I can answer some questions that came from some newbies recently. Ah, we may have heard them before and know the answers. And others in the newness of this expanse of cyberspace can easily be unaware of details, both major and minor. I am still learning myself...in this ever evolving realm. So I am happy to share.
And Heads up: November is NANOWriMO month! And WDC has its own edition.

Welcome Newcomers! Touring around Newbie grounds when some queries popped up! So here we go:
Who am I?
Handles? Usernames? Ahhh! YOU may have noticed a cool Hallowe'en tradition run by Ẃeβ࿚ẂỉԎḈĥ
Folks around here can change their handle...the name you see in the open beside each briefcase!
Mine is Eyestar {though now it says eerie eyestar' Haunting WDC as I am involved in a review raid!}
Hidden inside the case is the username that you use when you want to link a name somewhere.
Mine is 1starsong.
To link my name in a forum or note you would do this {suser:1starsong}
or a variation.
Handles may change for fun but generally your username you keep static. I find it is more helpful to also keep your handle the same but for the fun times or adding a note...so we can remember who you are.
Yes, you can still get your handle nominated before the 31st! BE QUICK> Change it up to something spooky. Post it on the newsfeed or send it to me and I will post so all can see and maybe nominate your handle!
To change your handle, go to My Account...Change handle! Easy!
Speaking of Linking
ON the side bar under Writing.Com Tools there is a quick info on how to link names, reviews, items so you can post them on forums, emails, contests etc.
Click: Writing ML:docs and help
Scroll down to Create links and see all the variations. Fun stuff right at your fingertips!
For example, If you want to link an item in a contest forum:
Take the id number and use the word "bitem" or "item" with a colon in curly brackets.
{item:126963} would give you "Noticing Newbies"
{bitem:126963} would give you
To link a review, use the word "review" and the id number of the review that shows up on the top of it.
The most common mistake I see is that some folks put the # sign in!
What are Trinkets?
A newer feature for fun at WDC that someone asked me about! Not to do with writing but creative and fun to share. They are collectible images like trading cards that folks can create for a fee. If you see one and the word Collect in on it, you can click it and have it show up in your Community Tab under "Trinkets collected."
If you frequent the Newsfeed you may see some folks sharing them and often are in shops or as contest incentives. Just a bit of fancy fun!
"Note:
Trinket is created to celebrate 15th accoun..."
If you dare to go here you may be able to get mine! "Queen Alice"
And I love fairies! https://www.writing.com/main/handler/item_id/2098696-My-Fairy-Trinkets
Where do I find c-notes?
These lovely greeting or message cards are found in shops around WDC! If you go to the "Browse by Type" on the side bar, look for Community Notes for a long list! Something for everyone! Find one you like, click, pay the small fee and send on its way.
If you want to send a spook for Hallowe'en here are some shops:
"Invalid Item"
"Happy Holiday c-Notes"
"Choco's Purple Halloween cNotes"
"Invalid Item"
That's the scoop for now!
Make sure if you have more questions to ask away. Forums like "Noticing Newbies" and "Non-Technical Support Forum" can be good places to start. Other members are also very happy to help you out!
Happy days!
Thanks for reading and keep on writing on!
