Hello folks and Happy Saint Patrick's day for all those who celebrate. It is also one of our delightful Senior Mod's birthday. Happy birthday, iKïyå§ama
I guess a lot of us experience an infusion of Irish blood when this day approaches. I make my signature corned beef and cabbage meal and share it with friends. I'm not Irish, but hanging around one who is for many years, I've learned just how important this day is to this person. Refer back to the famous corned beef dinner. All of this March stuff reminds us that spring is just around the corner.
March is also a busy month for my family. We have several March birthdays that fill the month. I don't know what couples were thinking about in June. There must be some sort of June-scented attractant in the air, because March yielded about a dozen births in my extended family. I know, it's all those June weddings, right?!!!
This brings me to the online shopping fest that hits me during this beginning of this month. My daughter's birthday is March, 4th, her daughter, my granddaughter, is March 8th, my big brother is March 12th. I like that 4-days of separation to catch my breath! Things were going very smoothly until my granddaughter's birthday.
I ordered her gift from Amazon.com, it was set to arrive the night before her special day, and I asked my daughter to keep an eye out for it so she could hold it aside until her birthday. However, while I was shopping for her, I came across something i needed to get and placed my order. This item was also due to arrive on the same day of my granddaughter's gift, but, my order was coming to Florida and hers was going to California. No, it's not what you think!
I got an alert on my phone from Amazon stating my order was five stops away from delivery and should be at my place between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. on a Sunday night! Now that's what I call a special delivery time. No need waiting for the weekday, they just deliver within the specified two-day Prime delivery.
It was getting close to 9:45 and I knew my item would arrive soon. Then my phone alerted me that the item has been delivered and asked how they did. I went to the front door to see if it was left on the steps. There was nothing there. I was a bit irritated by this and went back to look at the picture taken of the delivery on my phone. So, when asked how the delivery service was, I, of course clicked the thumbs down selection and was taken to another page with reasons why it was a bad experience. I chose, "not received" and "delivered to wrong address." That was not a photo of the front steps to my residence. Obviously they delivered the package to another unit in the park.
After I completed the bad review, I heard another alert go off on my phone. I read it and it said my item has been delivered, and right there on the photo was the package on my front steps.
Yes, folks, I assumed the first alert on the phone had to do with my package, when in fact it was an alert showing my gift sent to my granddaughter had been delivered. Of course it wasn't a photo of the front steps of my home it was my daughter's home. I sent my daughter a text and asked her to check her front entry to see if my granddaughter's gift arrived. She checked and texted back, "Yes, Mom, it's here. They didn't even knock on the door."
Then I told her about my stupid mistake. I had forgotten my granddaughter's gift was arriving the same day as my order. What threw me off was that they arrived both in California and in Florida almost simultaneously. She was laughing so hard, I got her replies in a series of humorous gif's. She rubbed it in even more by saying how much she felt sorry for that Amazon delivery person and could I retract my bad rating. Then she piled on the sad gifs to really guilt me.
In response to her query, I can tell you, since you were also thinking the same thing, I tried to change the rating but the option to re-rate a delivery was gone. I was determined to get on Live Chat in the morning to confess my mistake, beg for mercy, and offer to buy several more items to be delivered to my daughter's residence . (Of course I would let my daughter know those pre-purchased guilt gifts were to be saved for upcoming birthdays and Christmas, too. I'm no Rockefeller!)
The next day, Amazon sent another email asking about that infamous package delivery. I was so thrilled to get a chance to clear my "witchy" review and give that delivery person in California a big thumbs up! Then I proceeded to fluff-up that review enough to make him Amazon's greatest delivery person of the year! And may I remind you, no gift points were involved in the writing of that review!
Words to the wise ... work on your crow-eating moments. This too could happen to you.

How did this end up in the comedy newsletter? I was serious about my emotional trauma caused by giving away chocolate on Valentine's Day!
Robert, we all, and I mean ALL, know and understand your love and need for chocolate. !!!
And, chocolate does ease emotinal trauma, so go enjoy some more!
