This is IT!
We're getting ready to wrap up summer in the land of WDC and fall is just around the corner. Some of your children are going back to school and some of you are returning to the office. I feel like September is when things start to slow down and we have more time for WDC. Time to finish up those half formed stories and enter the contests you said you wanted to try. Remember your New Year's resolutions?
For those of you that host contests and holiday activities, now is the time to revamp your forums, change the dates, collect your gift points in a pile and recruit helpers.
On top of all that, our WDC birthday is this week! Writing.com is 21 years old and I'm positive some fun and exciting contests and activities will begin. Look at the left column, click and go over to Party Central! Try something new! And of course, review and support your fellow community member's pages.
If you find something fun to do, be sure to pop a message on your Newsfeed and promote it! The Newsfeed is a great way to promote authors you find, activities you enjoy, and contests that need a little TLC. Get in there and participate.
This month's question: Do you find yourself more active in WDC after summer? What are you doing? Send in your answer below! Editors love feedback! |
Excerpt: With this contest, we hope that it encourages more members to make use of the awesome blog feature available, and to promote more fun communication amongst writers via another writing medium!
Each day around 12pm NOON WDC time, one of our dedicated volunteer judges will judge the previous day's entries and post a new writing prompt. Entries for each new prompt must be posted by 11:59am WDC time the next day. Entries that follow ALL of the prompt requirements will be judged according to the creativity in responding to the writing prompt only. This means that grammatical errors WILL NOT be a determining factor in deciding the winner!
It's WDC Anniversary month, the fun already leveled high and you are here in the sunny space amusement park of WDC wonderland.
A new prompt will be posted every day in the forum at the bottom of this page at approximately 11:00 pm WDC time. (Eastern US time). The prompt will have the date of the next day, the day it is due. After the prompt is posted, you'll have about 24 hours to post your entry.
The coffee is always hot and there's usually a fresh batch of delicious cookies
Different things in a calendar to write stories for, and also, the prompts will not always be or from the calendar!
This contest uses only spoken words or internal dialogue!
Signups for Prep 2021 open Monday, September 6th!

This month's question: Do you find yourself more active in WDC after summer? What are you doing? Send in your answer below! Editors love feedback!
Last month's question: What advice would you give a person starting a contest or activity?
bryanmchunter: Just do the best you can do and hope the results will end in your favor.
Shadow Prowler-Spreading Love : I've learned the importance of keeping accurate records, asking for help, plan for hiccups, and if YOU have fun with it others will have fun as well.
Turkey DrumStik : Spreadsheets are useful for judging rubrics.
Schnujo's Doing NaNoWriMo? : Have a good fan base to begin with. If you don't have many fans, no one will see your activity and then no one will join it and you'll be disappointed. It might be a brilliant idea, but without fans seeing your Newsfeed, it's not as likely to take off with just advertising on the WdC Contest page and Contest Central Station.
TheBusmanPoet : Enter at your own risk.
THANKFUL SONALI Library Class! :
1. Keep your commitments.
2. Don't be disappointed if you get very few entries early on. Things take time to catch on.
3. Enter some contests and participate in some activities yourself so you get the feel of things before you start your own.
4. Try to keep prizes flexible - for example, let the winner choose between Gift Points or a Merit Badge.
elephantsealer : The best advice I can think of is for the person to go ahead and go it; it is your contest or activity, and you have all the ingredients to make it good!!!!
DevilsBargin : Figure out what kind of contest or activity you wish to do before you start. Then if it's a contest Figure out what kind of prize people will be playing for. The frist place prize also know as top or grand prize should be the main draw. When advertising a contest. After establishing the Fristplace prize. Decided if you wish to have the contest have only one soul winner or a number of winners. A prize pool or prize list is used in the cases for a multitude of winners. Now before beginning a contest. There are two things to keep in mind. Number One: Do your research. And by this I mean. If you know anyone who has run a similar contest. Talk to them frist get their impressions of how things went. Ask questions such as how many contestant participated. Or what sort of prep work did you have to do before hand. Remember ever contest is different and they all require their own needs to pull off.
Nonn : Just go for it
Thank you to everyone for your feedback, it is much appreciated! Leger~
