About This Newsletter

A couple of inspirational quotes for those who want to NaNo this year but haven't started yet.

This is how you do it: you sit down at the keyboard and you put one word after another until it's done. It’s that easy, and that hard.
— Neil Gaiman

As long as you can start, you are all right. The juice will come.
— Ernest Hemingway

National noNovel Rebel Month

November is the month of the year when some writers attempt to hammer out a whole 50,000 words novel in 30 days. That breaks down to about 1,667 words per day.

There are some activities here on Writing.Com that provide you with the perfect community to get you motivated to get out the starting gates and keep running until it's over. You can join the NaNoWriMo Sprint Writers Forum or use the motivation and peer pressure that's built into the NaNoWriMo Write-A-Thon. Whether you want to join those groups or not, at least check in at The WDC NanoLounge to see what's up with other writers.

If you're in, you're in. If you don't want to, you don't have to. There are ways to be a NaNo Rebel that are perfectly good.

For instance, if you're not a novelist, you can try and hit 50,000 words by blogging with the 30 Day Blogging Challenge that has its official month in November. 30 days and 30 writing prompts that are certain to get you writing.

You can go full non-fiction and write essays or product reviews or any other type of continuous writing within a theme that makes you end up with 50,000 new words written up by you by the end of November.

You can just skip all of it and still be perfectly good.

Well, you can skip NaNoWriMo and be perfectly good. Please be sure to check out all the other contests hosted by the site and other members. Also check out activities like Question of the Day! that offer a neat connection point for members to chat about different topics.
