Game On!

I don't know about you all, but I love games. Since I was a child, I've loved card games, dice, board games, etc. Maybe I'm a bit competitive, but I think I just love puzzles and games, too. I remember learning to play Yahtzee while camping and then playing for hours and hours by myself!

There are plenty of ways to make writing like a game. You can make daily/weekly/monthly goals, try to compete with yourself or join writing groups and compete against others. Contests and activities on WDC can make writing a game, too!

*Bulletv* Contests - The obvious one - you can enter contests and compete against other writers for prizes. Here's a new contest that could use some entries: "Lighthouses at Sunset Contest Open in new Window. [13+]

*Bulletv* Quizzes - Such a variety of subjects covered with WDC quizzes! Try this one: "Spring Flowers QuizOpen in new Window. [E]! I took it and did not do very well... See if you can beat me on the scoreboard! *Wink*

*Bulletv* In & Outs - This item type can be used for a number of activities, ranging from a fun activity to lists or contests.

*Bulletv* One last idea - A contest as a spark for creativity. You can add games to your writing, or for a fun exercise: How would your characters act playing a game together? Who would be competitive? Who might cheat? Who would be a stickler for the rules? Exercises like this can help you flesh out your characters.

My favorite thing about games is that they are so versatile. There are so many types of games and countless themes. You can play against a few opponents, a lot, or none at all!

Take care, and as always, keep on writing! *Quill*
