How do I get reviews?

This one of the most often asked questions around the site: How do I get reviews? There are many ways to get more exposure for your static items, interactives, forums and activities. Here are a few ideas:

Review - One of the best ways to get reviews is to give them! Many members of the site give reciprocal reviews when they receive them. Reviewing others will not only get you noticed by others, but it can help your own writing! Give it a try!

Review Forums - There are a lot of forums out there dedicated to providing reviews to items on this site. Many offer reviews for free, for return reviews, or for a small gift point fee. Browse review forums by visiting this item: "Find a Review ForumOpen in new Window. (You can also find this item through the Site Navigation tool on the left of every screen - Click "Things To Do & Read" and then "Review Forums.")

Auto-Rewards - Auto-Rewards offer gift points to reviewers for sending feedback on your item. To set up an auto-reward on your item, click on "Edit" on your item, then near the bottom of the edit page, set the gift point amount you'd like to give to reviewers. (For more information on how auto-rewards work, see "Auto-RewardsOpen in new Window.)

Sponsorship - Sponsoring an item is a great way to advertise! Basically, your item will be featured in prominent places on the site, and you will pay a gift point amount each time someone clicks on your item. (For more information, see "The Writing.Com BidClick SystemOpen in new Window.)

Submit to Newsletters - Each newsletter accepts submissions! First, you must subscribe to Newsletters so you're sure to receive them each week. (To manage your subscriptions, click on "My Account" near the top of the page. Then click "Manage Newsletter Subscriptions." Or you can also access Newsletters under "Site Tools" in the Site Navigation Tool on the left of your screen.) At the bottom of each newsletter is an item submission form. Enter the information about your item and Editors may choose to highlight it in an upcoming Newsletter where it will be seen by literally tens of thousands of members! *Delight*

Billboards, Bio-Blocks & Highlighted Items - These are places you can advertise your items. To edit Billboard, Bio-Block, and Highlighted Items: Click on "My Account" and then "Edit Text & Special Settings."

Plug Pages - Another way to advertise is to post your work in these plug pages: "The Shameless "Plug" PageOpen in new Window. and "Please ReviewOpen in new Window.

*Note1*Don't forget!*Note1*

There are a few things which may keep your item from showing up on public listings:

*Shock* Items without ratings! You must rate your items for them to be listed with other statics! Please follow Writing.Com's Content Rating System - "Content Rating System (CRS)Open in new Window.

*Shock* Forums with no messages! You must have at least one message post in a forum for it to be listed with other forums. Many include a "Welcome" message in a forum.

*Shock* Interactive Stories with no chapters! - Interactive stories require at least 3 chapters to show up in the Interactives list. This is a good way to set up your interactive for participants to follow.

Many of us have found that the best way to gain exposure for your items is to get out there and meet other members. Review, participate in interactives, and post some messages! A great way to start this is to introduce yourself here - "Writing.Com General DiscussionOpen in new Window.

Ask & Answer

As a guest editor, I don't have any feedback in which to reply, so instead I'll leave you with one more thing to think about: When you're looking for items to read and enjoy, where do you go first? Those would be good places to link your own work! And remember, Writing.Com is all about peer-to-peer reviewing! Get out there and review, and your own work will be bound to get some reviews, too! *Smile*
