Letter from the editor

Happy New Year!!

While it's often exciting to start a new year with planning and resolutions, soon the doldrums of winter can start to overwhelm us. Anyone else feeling the cold grip of the Winter Blahs?

For many of us, the holidays are over and cold, dark days are settling in. Sure, the days are starting to get longer and Spring is on its way, but what to do until then?

Well, there's a lot to do at WDC! Here are just a few ideas!

*Bullet* Keep an eye on "Site News & AnnouncementsOpen in new Window. for exciting new site features and news!

*Bullet* Write a Product Review! WDC members can write in-depth reviews of books, movies and music. Product Reviews are great ways to improve your writing by thinking critically, and they're also a great way to support this great site!

*Bullet* Host a Contest! Contests and Activities can be a lot of fun to host. Inspire others and perhaps you'll gain some inspiration, too!

*Bullet* Write! What better way to beat the winter blues than to start a new short story, poem, or other writing project! Remember that great feeling you get when you're working on something exciting? And it's a great way to work on keeping those writing resolutions! *Wink*

*Bullet* Review! Maybe inspiration hasn't hit you yet, or you need a break from creative writing. Why not review a fellow writer? It improves your own writing skills, and it helps out other writers!

Some more places to keep an eye on for fun things to do:

One of the best way to beat any lull is to get involved with a community. What better place to can you find to get inspired and connect with other writers than here at Writing.Com! Get involved with a new contest or activity, or perhaps start one of your own! I bet you'll beat those Winter blues and help others do the same in the process!

And then Spring with its warmer weather and longer days will be here before we know it! *Bigsmile*

Always keep on writing!

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter gave information and tips on New Year's Resolutions. Thanks, everyone, for your feedback and comments! *Bigsmile*

Thanks for the good advice that should be repeated every year at this time. I've definitely learned that the only resolutions I've ever accomplished were detailed and planned out. So my main goal this year is to revise my NaNo novel and I'm already starting to plan out my revising schedule, which I've left open and flexible because life is what it is and always throws obstacles in the way of writing. ~ sarahreed

Great idea! It's good to have a detailed plan, but also leave room for life's unexpected wonders! Great advice! *Bigsmile*

Spidey, Great ideas for WDC Resolutions. I resolve to improve on my self editing techniques and do a little more reviewing around the site! ~ StephBee Author IconMail Icon

Those are great resolutions! Good luck! *Smile*

Happy New Year to you to spidey! I am a newbie. Thanks for all the advice already. Realistic resolutions makes the best sense. Thanks Again for this advice. ~ water pebble Author IconMail Icon
