Gaining Exposure for Your items

Writing.Com has a host of plug pages that allow you to increase the visibility of your activities, contests, short stories, poetry, and any other piece of creative writing you can come up with.

Obviously, the "Activities @ Writing.ComOpen in new Window. is the place to plug all your activities. Those include group writing activities that aren't contests, reading activities, auctions, raffles, any type of group you have that unites writers around a genre or cause. Besides entering the item's ID, you get up to 255 characters to describe your activity. Use that space to list benefits, deadlines, and facts that advertise why your activity is the one to participate in. The plug on the activities page only shows the title, so you should at least repeat the information in the intro line of your activity.

The "Writing Contests @ Writing.ComOpen in new Window. is the place to announce writing contests that you are running within Writing.Com. This plug page is set up in a way that title and your intro line are showing, which gives you a whole extra 255 characters to describe your contest in depth. You can give prize information, dates to enter, and anything else that sets your contest apart from others.

"Please ReviewOpen in new Window. is reserved for static items with a rating from E through 18+ with all visible text on the page (title, intro, plug) has to stay E rated. The page itself stipulates that you be courteous and review an item in return if you got a review from posting on this page. To sweeten the deal, Wenston Author Icon, a generous Writing.Com member, has started a review forum that rewards reviews for items on this page with gift points and merit badges! See the first recommended item in editorial picks.

Use the "The Shameless "Plug" PageOpen in new Window. as a place to promote nearly anything in your portfolio. Exceptions are contest or activities (they have their own pages after all). But here is the perfect place to ask other members to add to your interactive, add a comment to an In&Out, join a group you founded, read your novel, or vote in a poll you created. The Shameless Plug Page requires all titles, intros and the plug text to be E rated and the items have to fit into the Writing.Com limits for E through 18+ writing.

"The GC+ Shameless "Plug" PageOpen in new Window. gives you the chance to feature any item and even contests, as long as your item itself is a GC or XGC rated item. Your title, intro and plug have to fit into the Writing.Com limits for the 18+ rating.

Advertise the services you want to sell to the Writing.Com community for gift points on the "The MarketplaceOpen in new Window.. To find the link for this page, hover your cursor over the Gift Point Tools link on the left side of the page.

"Writing.Com General DiscussionOpen in new Window. is a forum for members new and seasoned to mingle. Come here to see what others are up to, let others know what you are up to, participate in the conversations that are relevant for you, and ask questions. Somebody might just have the answer. This page allows you to advertise for items within Writing.Com, but don't spam the forum. This page creates an additional space to get the community's attention to an activity or contest you run. Keep it clean, no content above the Writing.Com ASR rating, please.

Like NaNoWriMo, the challenge is to write 50,000 words in one month. Start day is July first and end date is on the last day of the month. However, unlike NaNoWriMo (and thus more like MarNo), it doesn't have to be a brand new novel or even a single project.
