The most amazing review hit my mail box the other day. It was full of helpful hints, tips, suggestions, personal comments, informational ideas, and creative thought. It was one of the most thorough reviews I have ever received, and on an older piece that usually got the quickie reviews; this is great, I liked it, keep up the good work, I could find nothing wrong, type of reviews. I wanted to do something extra nice for this reviewer, so I ran through the list of possiblities:
I sent a long thank you letter, and included GPs with the return, but that didn't seem enough. I wanted this person to get some extra recognition.
I could return the favor with an equally in-depth review of an item of their piece, and probably will, but still, that isn't recognition enough. I want to do something more.
A merit badge would have been great, but I had already sent them one a few days ago, maybe that is why they reviewed me. Since it hadn't been 15 days, they wouldn't get the community recognition if I sent them out another one so soon. Only one given Merit Badge per member, per 14 day period, counts toward a member's Community Recognition.
A C-note of "Thanks" , another great idea to let them know how extra special their review was. I did this, but wanted to add just a little more. What could I do for them, to say THANK YOU in a special way?
The light-bulb came on with that magical spark of recognition. The review they did was public. I could give them some reviewing credits , and not just for my piece, but maybe for a couple of the other items they had reviewed as well. Giving them public reviewing credits helps them in many ways:
Shows them you thought highly of their review.
Adds GPs to their coffers.
Gives them reviewing credit which may help move them up the ranking system for most credited reviewers.
Encourages them to continue giving in-depth reviews.
I had decided to go along with this last idea, and no sooner had I done so, I got an email inquiry as to how I did it and why. The reviewer was newer to the community and had no idea I could send them credits for their reviews other than through the regular email reply. So I instructed them on how to do so:
From the left hand side of the page, select THINGS TO DO & READ
That opens a side box. Scroll down to the seventh item, PUBLIC REVIEWS , and click
This displays the public reviews for the last 31 days. To the right of the box containing the review, there is a smaller box that reads: Send this reviewer gift points. It contains a drop down box allowing you to select one of nine separate choices for sending them reviewing GP credit. You can only credit them in this fashion, once fore each review.
I was now satisfied that I had taken care of the reviewer in the same fashion they had taken care of me. I made sure they knew, that the time they spent on my review was very much appreciated. I look forward to the next amazing review. |

Have you received an amazing review lately? How did you recognize the reviewer?

The 30 Day Blogging Challenge was the best thing ever. And they're starting up again on August 15 with another 30 day challenge. I've also found that the Daily Flash Fiction sponsored by Talent Pond has also helped me keep up my writing. I just discovered it and now I'm wild about it! These two things and blogging have kept my writing going this summer, and I'm grateful!

Hello, I am a member and one of a select few of judges for the Sensual Infusion group and our writing contest Sensual Moments volume II. After reading this weeks newsletter I figured it would be a good place to gain exsposure for our contest. It has great prizes and we could use donations of GP's as well. |
