Tackle Your New Years Resolutions with Contests and Activities at WDC!
This time of year, many of us are making New Years Resolutions to read, write, or review more in the coming year! I know I'm guilty of slacking off in the later part of 2014 (The post-NaNo slump), but I'm always reluctant to make New Years Resolutions that I know I may not keep. Today's newsletter is about the vast array of contests and activities that can help you keep your writing-related resolutions.
If you've never entered a contest on Writing.com, 2015 could be your year to start. May I suggest starting with WDC's annual official contest "Dear Me: Official WDC Contest" [E]? It's a great way to put your writing related goals into words in a format that will hold you accountable! Plus, you could win great prizes at the same time. What are you waiting for? Go enter! I'll wait!
Okay, now that you've done that, it's time to find some contests that will help you meet your specific goals. If you're a newbie on WDC who has resolved to be more active, there are contests especially for you! Check out "Invalid Item" You can also head to the Contest Plug page or do a search for "newbie" with the item type "forum" to find more.
If you resolve to write more poetry on a regular basis, there are a number of contests that challenge you to write one monthly, or even weekly (and sometimes daily!). Check out "Invalid Item" and "Monthly Poetry Contest" [E] for examples!
For fiction contests, you may want to check out the long-running "The Writer's Cramp" [13+]. You can enter once a day as often as you want, and the prompts are usually great starting points for getting your imagination going!
Now that you've found some contests that will help you meet your goals, you should probably look into finding a supportive group of writers to help you keep on track! One such group is "Monthly Writing Accountability Challenge" [13+]. There are others if you take a look!
We all start out with good intentions with our resolutions, but keeping them is easier said then done. WDC can help. All you need to do is search and seek out contests and activities that will get your creative juices flowing! |
