Letter from the editor

There are so many wonderful activities and contests on writing.com.
Many people do not realize what hard work goes in to creating all of these important site activities. Most of them are free to enter and give great prizes to the winners. A few of them are brought to you by WDC; such as

. Most of the contests and activities are brought to you by fellow members of the site.

You should be thankful to those who bring forth these contests and activities that make the site so much more interesting and fun. I myself featured the contest, "A Story-Poem Contest", which due to illness is on hold right now. I can tell you from personal experience that it is time consuming and a lot of hard work; But it is also rewarding and fun. Some of these contests are long time running and certain people go way beyond working to bring forth these wonderful activities and contests. Just to name a few, there is Andy, Monty, Country Mom, and Lornda. Thank these people and all of the others who run these additions to this site. Just an acknowledgement of the work they do would make their day more pleasurable.

So many activities are created to help aid writing.com groups by splitting the proceeds or gift points with the person running the activity and the group or groups which they choose. They hold raffles, auctions and even games. If you have not been paying attention to these activities or entered Any of the contests you are really missing out on a lot of fun and potential prizes; which can include many gift points, merit badges, ribbons, and in the case of Good Deeds deserve cash you actually win cash.

It is a lot of work, much reading and reviewing and then trying to narrow the choices for the winners of contest, it is so difficult. It also comes along with an expense of giving prizes each month by the person running the contests.

Many times a lot of the contests receive donations from the community.
If they don't have the donations many of the contests would have to close.
So if you ever find yourself with an extra amount of gift points please donate to your favorite contest or bid at an auction or even buy raffle tickets. By doing this you are supporting your fellow writers and you are showing yourself to be a real sport in helping to make the site a more interesting place. I am personally very thankful to all of those who run these contests and activities.

Some of the groups go out of their way to help you and we shouldn't forget these group leaders, such as; RAOK, who give away upgraded memberships to those who are in need. In order to get this however, there are many requirements, and you must be referred by a member of RAOK. It is important that you always keep in mind that many of these people we have discussed in this edition work tirelessly on their contests and activities. So when you see a contest you like or a person who is running it you might say thanks or show your thanks with a merit badge or by donating to their contest. You are allowed to give away one free merit badge every month so share one with them.
