Allegheny sand pits

From where turtles bask themselves,
I watch the sun set across the snapper's snout,
its ripples snatching at the mauves and oranges
of a day that whimpers towards the death of dusk.
Here along the clear cold waters of the quarry,
I seek some solace, seek some warmth
before it drains into the rocks, before
my shadow dies along with dying dusk.

There are sand and gravel pits in Portville New York along the Allegheny River. The general area looks kinda like these two images:

ME:

Woke up okay; but, must remember to eat something in the mornings besides coffee. My stomach is complaining. Not sure whether the buttered cracker crumbed artichokes late last night helped either. *Rolleyes*

Or maybe ... this just hot off of the Yahoo! 'presses':

Went to Z's. Am I predictable? then off to the Prairie Park to say hello to Edgar Allen Crow and the macaw. The possum was awake, as were the turtles, giant cockroaches and walking sticks. The ferrets slept through my visit. My photos inside did not turn out.

Mayapples aren't in bloom yet, but the violets and strawberries were. At the lake, one guy caught a catfish and a crappie.

I took various pictures, including one of some brown cows that live in town.

Ate a chalupa on the walk home and hummus *Delight* when I got here. Got to talk to two friends in Tahlequah, OK. Prices have soared there; used to be cheap.

IMAGINE:

Fishers; frogs; pond scum; girl with a net; woman with a leash around her waist being pulled by a chocolate lab at the other end; blond 4 year old tyke on a bike with training wheels; 4 vultures or hawks circling in the air east of Mary's Lake.

On my walks today:

Kansas skyscraper: Young elm and clouds: Pond scum:
