A mystery...
I had a rather embarrassing moment yesterday. Sometimes I wonder how someone so naive could have gotten this far through life.

When I took out my trash yesterday for pickup today, I noticed the big green electric box, that sits on the little island between me and my neighbor, was crooked on its concrete pad, actually at a 45 degree angle. (Hint: our driveways are on either side.) This thing is heavy...like, very heavy. As I was standing in the driveway pondering on how this could have happened, my mail lady came, and I discussed the situation with her. She had no clue either, but neither of us thought it was a good thing for it to be angled like that.

So...I came inside and called my electric company (GRU) thinking it might be dangerous. After two tries and long waiting times, I decided to go online and send an email...which I did. Much to my surprise I had an immediate response and then thought, well, this is just automatic. No. Within 1/2 hour a huge GRU truck parked along the curb out front.

I could not contain my curiosity so I walked out to see if he knew what may have happened. He had already taken a ladder off the truck, positioned it alongside the box, and was nudging the box back in place with a 2 x 4.

Me...How in the world do you think this happened?

Him...Probably, the lawn people hit it. Who cuts the grass?

Me...I do.

Him...Oh...well....someone definitely hit it. See the mark?

Me...(Blank...I look but I do not see anything.) I laugh and say. I thought maybe you moved it to kill ants.

Him...(Laughter)

Me....thinking...this strange scenario runs through my head. My critique group met at my house last Tuesday. Three (older) ladies who all parked in the driveway. I see them backing out and .......I hope it does not show on my face *Blush*.

Me...Well, thanks very much for coming out and fixing it.

Curiosity satisfied, sort of, I came back inside and wondered...and wondered some more. How will I know? Wouldn't someone have said something? It must not have been. Maybe some things are best unknown.

until next time...c
