surely there are more newsworthy stories than gossip
Prompt : Talk Tuesday! What's your take on celebrity gossip?
Celebrity gossip?? It is irrelevant.None of it interests me, or will alter my world. I deal with my own reality. Who is sleeping with who, who is cheating and with who, who divorced and re-married yet again, who went under the knife and is denying plastic surgery, who, who, who.....boo hoo hoo...blah, blah, blah.....why????
I scanned the official MSN news page, and I wasn't disappointed in my search for celebrity gossip; it's plentiful, plaintive and pitiful. The paparazzi are apparently alive, and thriving. Here are some so-called scintillating stories....
'Cancer claims Moore's daughter'. Is this indeed true? This headline featured a pic of the actor Roger Moore. I have no way of verifying if he has a daughter, and if she did die of cancer. If this is true, it is tragic but no more so than other deaths. I would think that he deserves respect befitting any grieving parent. No one needs to intrude upon his privacy at any time, but especially not now.
'29 times the Duggars enraged someone'. Huh, my first though was only twenty-nine times? The fact that this supposedly Christian family chooses to live their lives publically via a television program is mind-boggling. They have shunned privacy. They submit their children and their business to scrutiny that is magnified by the court of public opinion.
'Celebs whose plastic surgery was a success'. Do I give a flying you-know-what ? The before and after photos are always obvious and self-explanatory , yet many in the spotlight deny going under the knife. Celebs, okay, too many celebs bet their earnings and appeal on their physical appearances. Schnozzes, butts, and boobs are viewed as money-makers. Hey, what they risk is no skin off my nose.
'Ariana Grande splits from boyfriend'. Gasp, nĂ², say it isn't so! A teenage girl flirts? A teenage girl wants a boyfriend? A teenage girl plays the field? A teenage girl moves on to a new relationship? This is news?? Even infamous pop singer teenage girls feel heartache.
Annoyingly, this drivel inundates online sites. It's as if attempts are being made to force-feed it to us. While you surf the world wide Web why not wallow in muck?
I believe celebs are entitled to privacy. They do not owe their fans or detractors anything. Promoting the latest project on a press junket is enough. Acting or singing is a job, a career like any other. It is but a small part of who these people are or profess to be. I cannot fathom my every move, outfit, choice of companion, opinion, word, etc. subjected to intense interest. Surely there are more newsworthy stories than gossip.
