Fear is an emotion. It comes about when we anticipate or become aware of something that might bring us pain or something is a threat to us.

I believe we all live with fear in the background of our lives right now. The war on terror is not won. How will affect our world if it cannot be controlled? When I see how violence is able to breakout in places when you least expect it. When you watch prices rise knowing that people in the general population can not really shell out more for electricity, or food, or other necessities.

I experience everyday threats just wondering if prices will raise and we won’t be able to maintain internet or heat or feed for the pets. We are presently healthy, although aging. But, if our health changes or prices raise drastically how will we cope? I’m sure other elderly people are wondering the same thing. As long as I am maintaining a daily life without major changes I feel as if we are winning a battle.

Even the little things of winning a daily battle can be an inability to see what might be in store down the road.

Yesterday I went to the barn in a blizzard. I was dressed warmly and I spent about 2 hours outside feeding birds and cleaning barn stalls. Just doing chores. I liked feeling that I can still do these little jobs. Even when the snow is 3 feet deep. And, the outside birds were flocking to the feeders all day because many of them are summer birds, which have returned to the area.

I think this kind of slight anxiety is background fear that we all live with in this particular time of life.
It’s easy to wonder what’s next, instead of just keep going.
