The Gift
*Ribbon* First Place, Round 28

A gentle rain
has washed away
remnants of day
and left it clean.

The trees refresh,
the grass is green;
a new found scene
seems to arise.

Revealed to me,
such beauty lies
before my eyes
with clarity.

This is a gift
that’s given free
to you, to me
without a cost.

And yet, I fear
it will be lost
if we exhaust
and not protect.
