Sit and listen to what I say. I speak for the people that believe enough is enough.

I am just your average American middle class citizen. I have five children and have worked hard to get where I am today. Years of working hard as a carpenter, and years of being self employed, I have worked my way up. Now, though, I find myself in a predicament. The last twelve years of my life has been taken away from me. I am losing my home, losing the year and a half it took my wife and I to build it. It is a six bedroom, four and a half bath home on nine acres in middle Tennessee. I have to say goodbye, and it hurts.

My job has been outsourced to the cheaper Latino workforce. Not just mine, but the jobs of thousands of people have been dramatically undercut by the primarily illegal workforce. They have come here by the millions and flooded the workplace with cheaper labor, that subsequently and substantially lowered the cost of labor in general. I have to change careers late in my life, and I will be cutting my earnings in half. I want solutions to this problem and I want it now. Too many have been where I am, and it is high time we stood up for ourselves and take a stand. Close my borders, Mr. President.

Hey Gary, What's the haps? How is Tennesee? How are you faring since last March? My old blog filled up in August and my new blog is taking a look at the news from a journalistic perspective lately. Please see: "Invalid Item" Your opening line is indeed an atttention getter. I agree with your closing line fully.

Now, here's one for you, which sent me up a wall last week. My new roommate, my grandson sought a job repeatedly since mid July when he moved to my place. So, he finally lands two part timers. All good. Job#2 requires a phsyical and this is where it turns epic. We call clinics in rural PA. One clinic wants $95. I turn to Hotshot and say, "I'm going to faint." The next place wants $140. One Hundred Forty Dollars!! So, now I make a true pest of meself. I hem & haw, complaint-wise quizzical status. So, another higher up grabs the phone. Hotshot must provide all his referal papers from his family doctor. Gary, I ask you, who really keeps a family doc? People spend more at the Vet than at a medical establishment these days. Well, I paid to have a cat fixed back in 1999. Sorry, I digress.

So, I whip out to the broad, a take charge gal --- what if he has no family doctor?

She says he can go to a hospital.

I say your office sends me mail to come to your clinic for two years now. What if I take ill?

She says I'm to request all my referal papers so the doctor won't get sued because I sued him because he didn't know I had a pre-existing condition.

Well, I said is there anywhere you know of where we can go if we need a physical or are sick?

"No, none. This is how it is here."

"How long has it been this way?"

Five years, she says.

Now that is a lie. Five years ago nobody wanted to be stuck releasing medical records without patient consent. Full circle, Gary --- all for the fat cats. And I must know hundreds of people who know thousands of citizens who have no insurance.

Well, bit of a rush. I spent last night wondering if I should tell this woman we found a clinic in Reading, PA which is a walk-in and does the physical for $53.00 up from my last physical of yore which cost $35. Plus, Pennski-ites are surviving barely by sharing and gardening our fool heads off.

Immigration Debate

I would like to begin a formal debate on the topic of immigration. Recently I have been named a racist because I emphasized the importance of knowing exactly who is coming into and out of my country (U.S.). I suggested that illegal immigration is a bad thing, and that the people that move to a foreign country by choice should assimilate to the ways of that country instead of expecting the host country to provide them will welfare and benefits.

In this blog, I would like to keep responses to a maximum of 500 characters. Text should be civilized and factual, as I will be using in-text citations to support my statements, and all will be factual with statistics when applicable.

Thank you in advance for a professional debate, and please identify yourself in some way consistently.

Does Anybody Care?

Does anybody really understand what is happening in our world today? With the government in a partisan war of sorts, immigration devouring the middle class, and wars on multiple fronts. It seems like nobody even cares. I wish I could reach out to the people of this country and appeal to their morals and ethics. We have to get a grip on this nation or there won't be a nation to grip.

Sometimes I fail to realize that I am the luckiest man I know. Even when everything all around me is falling apart, anything is possible with the unbreakable chain of love inspired by the perfect wife. I have never been happier.
