In this brief introduction I shall try and answer as many questions as possible about this project starting with:-
What is a "branchology"?
A branchology is a portmanteau comprising of the words "branching" and "anthology"; each choice(branch) leads to a new story by a new author.
What is the purpose of The Ibis Tree?
The Ibis Tree was created to both challenge and index talented genre authors on writing.com. Authors get to write a short story to promote their portfolio, whilst readers get a chance to happen across a new writer that they may have missed on this site.
Why is this calledThe Ibis Tree?
The namesake for this project comes from the Ancient Egyptian deity Thoth who was commonly depicted as having the head of an Ibis(although later depictions tell of him having the head of a baboon.)
Thoth was the god of the moon, magic, writing and wisdom.
Him being the scribe of the gods, the inventor of writing, and the author of every branch of knowledge, both human and divine, make him the perfect namesake for this project.
Why should I contribute a story?
To demonstrate your skills and further promote your portfolio.
What should I write in the choice boxes?
Please write the word Story followed by a number corresponding to the choice.
E.g. Story 1, Story 2, etc.
Where should I start?
There are two paths that you can choose here.
Option A:- Click the Story Outline and find a title that intrigues you.
Option B:- Choose a genre and explore!
