Plot/story elements:

Did I feel attached to the story or poem?

I love mustang spirits, wild and free, refusing to be tamed. They're sovereign creatures wholly independent and fearless. I also love that you chose to pay homage to the desert, a usually inhospitable and cruel environment but can be transformed during the spring to bring about renewal of life. The spirit of the mustang and deserts are a great combination.

Would I recommend this piece of writing to someone else?

It's a beautiful tribute to harsh and proud lands that belong to soverign and independent creatures. I think desert dwellers would absolutely love this piece.

Was there a clear purpose to it?

I get the idea that you appreciate the sense of adventure mustangs display in a land that is marked as theirs. There is magic sometimes in desolate places that works, sometimes, our heart and life work that way too. We can let sorrows and pain define us and or we can choose to believe in the springtime of the desert.

My favorite verse last one because if you look closely to apprciate life in the desert, you'll find the same gifts inside of yourself. There is life renewed in the desert just as in us.
